SmoothOps 365 was founded by Taiwo Akintunde, whose own path started outside the traditional IT route, into healthcare support work, then IT, then cloud engineering. That background shapes how we think about anyone building a UK IT career from a different starting point, wherever in the world that starting point was.

We want to be direct about something important: this page is about building real, demonstrable IT skills and presenting your existing experience the way UK employers actually evaluate it. It is not about visa or immigration eligibility, that is a separate matter, and one we are not qualified or authorised to advise on. If that is what you need, our UK IT Careers & Immigration Information page links directly to the official GOV.UK source and a way to find a properly regulated adviser.

What we can genuinely help with is real: turning existing experience, wherever it was gained, into a UK IT career, through a recognised certification, a UK-structured CV, and hands-on skills that stand up in an interview.

What genuinely helps

CompTIA A+, internationally recognised
No UK qualification required to sit it. It is a widely recognised, portable, entry-level credential regardless of where you trained.
A UK-structured CV
UK employers respond to specific, named achievements and UK-recognised terms. The same real experience, presented differently, reads very differently to a UK hiring manager.
Real, hands-on lab experience
Demonstrable, practical skill built during training often carries more weight in entry-level hiring than where a qualification was originally earned.
Weekend-only training
Train while working your current job, no gap in income or employment history needed.

Questions people ask

Do I need a UK degree to work in IT in the UK?

No. For entry-level UK IT support roles specifically, a recognised certification like CompTIA A+ and demonstrable, hands-on skills generally matter more than where you studied. CompTIA A+ is internationally recognised and does not require a UK qualification.

Will my previous IT or professional experience be recognised by UK employers?

Often yes, but it needs to be presented in UK terms. UK employers respond to CVs structured around specific, named achievements and UK-recognised certifications, so experience described in unfamiliar terms can be undervalued even when it is genuinely strong.

Does SmoothOps 365 give visa or immigration advice?

No. SmoothOps 365 is not registered with the Immigration Advice Authority and does not provide immigration advice. For guidance on your own visa or immigration situation, speak to an IAA-registered adviser or immigration solicitor. See our UK IT Careers & Immigration Information page for official GOV.UK sources.
